The Brunswick County Literacy Council needs volunteers for the following programs:

Employment Security Commission – Volunteers to sit at the unemployment office and fill out intake forms to pass on to us at the Literacy Council for follow up.

Brunswick County Health Department – Volunteers to sit and read to children while they wait for their appointment, fill out intake forms for adults to pass on to us at the Literacy Council

Brunswick County Jail – Volunteers who are willing to go in to the jail and work with inmates who want their GED in a classroom situation.

Brunswick County Drug Court – Volunteers needed to sit and complete intake forms for the client that need assistance in getting their GED, or basic literacy assistance in reading.

Health Literacy – Volunteers needed to help with our “Health Literacy” classes.

Tutors – Volunteers needed to tutor in the areas of Reading and Math as well as ESL.

Book Share – Volunteers to look through donated books, and separate them by age level.

Office Assistance – Volunteers to help with general office tasks, make copies, and help to organize teaching materials here at the Literacy Council.
